Working in Oil-

I am working in oil and acrylic- dividing my time between the two- I enjoy the visceral quality, almost unforgiving nature of acrylic. You must make firm choices with more expediency.   Yes, you can make use of glaze, mediums and retarders but there is a "follow" the gut element to it all. Certainly- dry brush scrumming is less hospitable.

Oil is much more forgiving. This is due to its slower drying times. Dry brush blending is a joy. Turning the hairs of your finest sable brush to a cheek or lip blending, allowing the hairs to slip over the canvas is joyous.

This portrait- is a Work in Progress. Oil on stretched linen canvas- 24 x 28- 50% completed-
