I enjoy working from photographs. I take several shots of the subject. Sometimes it's very much of the moment. Something in their look or shape just pulls at me. It takes some courage but I find ways of mustering up the nerve to ask if they will allow me to take a photograph. Then I think about it, about them. Sometimes the work comes quickly. It won't let me sleep until I can develop the thoughts on canvas. Then there are other times when it takes a lot longer. This piece took several hours and went through several stages before I was more contented with the results. Even now there are elements which don't truly sit still. This is a view of the piece "En Progress" . I had two final shots and ultimately opted for a collaboration of elements of both. The piece below is the finished painting, although for me it never is truly finished.
